Thanks to Facebook, Scientists Identify Successful Thousands of Fish

,
Canadian researchers say, thanks to the up he can quickly identify thousands of species of fish in his research project. How come?

Ph.D. Candidate the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTS), Devin Bloom conducted a survey on the river first ichthyologika remote Cuyuni in Guyana. In the two-week survey, Bloom and co-researchers managed to capture more than five thousand specimens of fish.

At that time, problems arise. To obtain permission to bring the fish out of the country to study, researchers should calculate exactly each species and provide detailed reports on the government of Guyana.

Because pushed right back to United States (U.S.), the team has only a few days to identify thousands of specimens of fish. When it is, Bloom suggested using Facebook.

After uploading photos of all types of fish, less than 24 hours, a network of researchers, friends and colleagues also managed to identify nearly every species. Through the identification of supply, the team can give the report to the government and returned to the U.S. on schedule. [mor]
