Facebook and Internet security company Web of Trust (WOT) will give users up to features that protect them from dubious web links, the company said today.
When a user clicks on facebook link that leads to a page with a bad reputation ratings provided by WOT community, users will receive a warning message. Typically, sites with bad reputation are known as phishing, content can not be trusted, fraudulent services or other fraud.
"facebook check the external links on our reputation database," said Vesa Perälä, CEO of Finland WOT Services Ltd quoted from PC World by gourged.co.cc "If the targeted sites have a bad reputation, the user will be warned about this and can find out more."
This service is not intended to block the site, but aims to warn users about potential risks.
This feature has been tested by 1 percent of Facebook users in the United States is being launched to all users in the U.S. and must be carried out next week for all of more than 500 million can's users.
